Irish
Draught Horse Society (GB)
The name Irish Draught may be misleading in that many people are
surprised to find that the breed is a lighter free-moving animal
than the traditional image of the heavy horse. However, today the
Irish Draught is more sought after for its breeding qualities. |

Irish horses are found taking part in all equestrian disciplines in
New Zealand from top dressage, show jumping and horse trials
competitions to the show ring and pony club. The Irish Draught has
an exceptionally strong and sound constitution. They are known for
their intelligent and gentle nature, making them an ideal mount for
all types of rider. |

attractive, talented horses, suitable for the dressage arena. We
have, since 1983, found and produced many top class breeding
stallions, dressage horses and ponies, show and competition horses.

Pound House
Maggie Spreckley-Dollard has a
lifetime of experience breeding, training and competing thoroughbred
and Irish Draught horses. She is one of a short list of people
suitably qualified and experienced to inspect and grade both Irish
Draught stallions and mares. She is also a senior inspector and
internationally renowned judge of Irish draught horses, hunters and
sport horses, having judged in the U.S.A and most of the major shows
in England and Ireland. |

Tylergrew up riding these lovely horses (Irish Draughts), a breed
that has been imported into that country in great numbers for a
many, many generations. When we moved to the US it was a natural
choice for us to continue a small breeding program with the breed
that had given Maggi so much enjoyment for so many years. |

Lionwood

Established in 1998, our small,
private Irish Draught stud lies on the limestone-rich bedrock of an
ancient Silurian seabed, in what is now the river basin between the
Mississippi and Cedar Rivers in Eastern Iowa. The goal of our
breeding program is the conservation of the rare, traditional
purebred Irish Draught horse. |

Heatherdale Stud was established in 1991. Situated in the heart of
the Derbyshire Peak District, we are blessed with excellent
limestone ground which is perfect for growing on young horses. We
have bred part bred show and competition horses for a number of

dentistry since 2001, working with owners, vets, physios and
chiropractors. He has a great knowledge, and a great love, of

Knowehead Farm Stud
Our farm is set near Harthill, North Lanarkshire and is
home to our outcross Registered Irish Draught Stallion
Grove Warrior and and this year for the first time,
Elite Graded Sport Horse Breeding (GB) Thoroughbred
Stallion Quakers Field. Knowehead Farm Stud has been run
by Anne Beattie since 1985 and has become a recognized
stud for breeding competition stock registered with the
Irish Draught Horse Society (GB).
